=== Brief Bio ===

My first job around marketing Open Source software was with Mt Xinu, marketing the first commercially supported release of Berkeley Unix. Since then I've most notably worked for Sendmail Inc, the USENIX Association, Terracotta Technology, and now Google's Open Source Programs Office.

Marketing is not a collection of stupid tricks used by scum-sucking weasels to mislead people - or at least it doesn't have to be ;-)

=== Skills ===

Marketing for Community development

  • In General: marketing for and by engineers and other smart people.
  • In Particular: overall strategy, event marketing, technical conference planning, courteous and effective lead generation and relationship management, measuring ROI.

=== What I Hope To Learn at FOSSCoach ===

I'd like to get an ever better sense of how people involved in projects approach marketing their projects to potential participants and users.

=== What I Hope To Share at FOSSCoach ===

I can help people develop a marketing plan for their project, especially event marketing and conference planning.
